Asclepius is a hero and god of medicine in ancient Greek religion and mythology, the son of Apollo and Coronis he represents the healing aspect of the medical arts along with his daughters the goddesses of cleanliness, recuperation from illness, the healing process, good health and universal remedy!
So powerful was Asclepius that he shared with Apollo the epithet Paean - the Healer and was reputed with the power of resurrecting the dead back to life! His famous hallow - the rod of Asclepius - a snake-entwined staff, remaining a symbol of medicine today!
